Cosworth starts benchtesting multi-fuel UAV powerplant

A new heavy fuel engine is under bench test in preparation for a first flight in the second quarter of 2010 for the Naval Air Systems Command's ultra-endurance unmanned air vehicle (UE-UAV) programme.rnTo be used for vehicles in the US Navy's small tactical unmanned aerial system, tier II UAV programme, the engine uses compression ignition as part of its fuel-tolerant design that enables it to run on diesel, JP-5 and JP-8. The navy's target for its power output is 10hp (7.5kW).
