How did you get into aviation? Since I was a teenager I've wanted to work within the airline industry. My parents always encouraged myself and my siblings to strive to be the best in whatever we chose to do, so naturally my first aspiration was to become a pilot. However, I later realised my skills would be better suited to a more holistic role within the sector, which led to a course in travel and tourism -my first step towards my goal. How has your career progressed? Over the past 20 years, I've held a variety of roles within the travel industry, though have never strayed far from my first love -airlines. In fact, my first job in 1996 was with a UK travel agency called Comet Travel, handing out tickets to passengers at the reception desk! I came to Royal Brunei Airlines as a sales executive in 2006, planning and developing strategies to maximise the airline's revenues, yield and market share on routes to Asia, Australia and the Middle East. I progressed from this role through to sales and marketing manager, before being appointed country manager for the UK and Ireland in 2016.
