Epic Aircraft flew its E1000 single-engined turboprop for the first time on 19 December and is confident it will secure US certification and begin deliveries of the high-speed type before the end of the year. Aircraft FT1 took off from Epic's base in Bend, Oregon for a 20min sortie "that threw up no surprises", according to chief pilot David Robinson. The milestone came three years after the launch of the E1000; a certificated and factory-built version of the company's LT kit plane, which Epic stopped selling in 2014 after securing 54 orders.
