As countries around the world work steadily on plans to clean the earth and air, a number of plans and options are being floated as "the" way to meet climate change objectives. As governments around the world work steadily to find ways to cut emissions and fuel consumptions, a number of plans and options rise to the surface. Some are good; some are bad; some need work in order to have any real impact. In Canada, the case is no different. The government is considering a plan to introduce feebates into the new vehicle market. The concept of the feebate, or a fee imposed on the sale of inefficient vehicles that finance rebates on the sales of efficient ones, was introduced in Budget 2005.
