摘要

In a major victory for NAFA's advocacy efforts in Canada, the association successfully persuaded the government of Quebec to change definitions in an important piece of provincial legislation. (The change of definition will prevent many NAFA members who are driving certain types of vehicles from being punished under the law.) At issue was the definition of heavy vehicles, as defined by the government of Quebec. According to previous legislation, vehicles weighing 3,000 kg (net weight) were the subject of scrutiny and controls. In mid-November, Bill 129, An Act to amend the Act respecting owners and operators of heavy vehicles and other legislative provisions amended the law in question, changing the definition of the weight category to 4,500 kg (gross vehicle weight).
