Since the introduction of fire and rescue service integrated risk management plans (IRMPs) some four years ago, UK brigades have continued to make real headway in driving down the number of fire deaths and injuries in communities. Fire services are well on their way to meeting ambitious Government targets - the 2005 figure of 491 fire deaths was the lowest recorded since 1959 and the number of injuries has dropped steadily over the last six years.
