While incidents involving hazardous materials and the problems encountered by emergency services was an underlying theme at the Hazmat 2006 conference, the topic of choice for most speakers was the threat to the UK of a terrorist attack and the potential methods for such an attack. The issues raised ranged from the detection and identification of hazmats, through to the different types of destructive weapons and their effects if they were released.
