Blackpool landlord fined £36,000 over fire safety A landlord in Blackpool has been fined £36,000 after courts ruled that he had breached fire safety regulation following a blaze at the property, the Blackpool Gazette reported, The fire started in a home on Clarence Street in Morecombe when a person fell asleep while cooking. It was revealed to Preston Crown Court that the fire alarm did not sound, but people were made aware by a low beep sound. The blaze, which occurred in July last year, quickly filled the property with smoke, leading to one person in the four-person household to be taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. However, no one was seriously hurt.
