Case study - Gaskells, Liverpool

THE RESEARCH that resulted from the NFCC testing was put into practical application earlier this year, when MFRS crews received reports of a large fire in a recycling warehouse in Kirkdale, Liverpool, involving a significant amount of commercial waste.This fire broke out on the afternoon of Tuesday 17 July, and at its height saw eight fire appliances, the combined platform ladder and support vehicles attend. Several multi agency meetings took place with site owners Gaskells Waste, Network Rail, Merseyside Police, the EA and MFRS to establish firefighting tactics and to discuss any concerns.
