We are gaining more and more fire science that either validates or challenges our experiences. The science gives us knowledge to deconstruct our experiences and words to explain them to others, but are we changing our training of firefighters and officers to improve not only skills but also the understanding of fire behavior and extinguishing mechanisms? This presentation breaks down fire science theory and looks at how to teach it with the supplementation of videos and small- and full-scale training props.
