The metalworking coolant filtration industry uses the terms single pass and multiple pass to define how a filter is positioned in a system to clean contaminated fluids.The terms describe the frequency the same fluid passes through the filter for cleaning.There are many factors involved on how they are selected and set up.This article explains some of the thought processes used in the application of single or multiple pass filtration systems for coolants.The discussion will revolve around the use of filters,but some of the logic applies to separators such asmagnetic and centrifugation as well.
