Plant espec. for the treatment of lubricating and cooling liq. employed in machines for working ferrous metals, uses =1 collection tank and magnetic filters fitted with magnet rods and periodically cleaned. The tank is divided into sections connected via grids of magnet rods, the tank being open above the grids. The magnets are mounted on hoists so they can be lifted and located over a sludge tank; and each magnet rod is provided with a scraper dispacing the sludge so it falls into the sluge tank. Two girders may be used as webs to join a row of magnet rods, making a flat grid extending transversely across the collection tank. Alternatively, rings of magnet rods can be assembled to form cages through which liq. must pass, several cages being located in e.g. two rows across the collection tank. The scrapers removing sludge from the magnets are pref. operated by a work cylinder. Used for cleaning and/or regeneration of liq. used on metal working machines which may or may not produce swarf. The plant provides optimum cleaning for the min. amt. of space and appts. required.
