Sustainability is more than just the newest environmental buzzword; sus-tainability is a relevant and important part of the Army's strategic planning for today's missions, and even more so for tomorrow's. Originally introduced to counter encroachment and its impact on training, sustainability has become a positive force for the Army that addresses so much more. Sustainability leads to a more economical installation operation, improves the quality of life for soldiers and their families, and improves the global condition through wise use and reinvestment of natural capital. Global condition is the very root of national defense concerns. Sustainability is more than just another environmental program.
