Annual sales for the group of FDM 300 companies declined sharply in 2008, primarily due to falling sales in the cabinet and furniture markets.rnAnnual sales for the group of 300 companies was $50.71 billion in 2008. That represents a decline of 10.7 percent from the 2007 figure, which was $56.78 billion. That 2007 number was 2 percent smaller than annual sales of this group in 2006 ($57.96 billion).rnThe FDM 300 comprises the largest secondary woodworking manufacturers in North America, along with some key importers. The list includes the largest manufacturers of cabinets, furniture, millwork, store fixtures and office and contract furniture.rnIn 2008, the FDM 300 companies employed 337,861 people. The number of employees fell 5 percent from the 2007 figure of 356,476. The year earlier, the employment number had fallen 4 percent from 371,822.
