Incat Crowther 27m catamarans enter service in Mexico

Two Incat Crowther 27m catamarans built by Midship Marine, Ultra Jet I and Ultra Jet II, have entered service in Mexico with Ultramar. A third sister vessel is nearing completion at the American builder's yard in Harvey, Louisiana.rnMidship Marine previously delivered three 39m monohull fast ferries to Ultramar in 2004-2005. The catamarans were constructed to United States Coast Guard Subchapter K regulations using aluminium, pre-cut plate and extrusion kit packages supplied by Incat Crowther.rnTwo Caterpillar 3412E diesels, rated at 895 kW at 2,300 rpm, each power a five bladed fixed pitch propeller via a ZF 2500 gearbox to give the design a full load service speed of 28 knots.
