摘要

A fleet of ageing merchant ships, which the Tamil Tigers used to run weapons, has been sunk by Sri Lanka's navy. Up to eight ships have been sunk over the past year, which has caused shipping interests to breathe easier in Colombo.rnThe latest sinking took place on 7 October after the navy came across a Tiger vessel 900n-m south of Dondra Head, in international deep-sea waters of the Indian Ocean.rnThe merchant ship, originally called Matsushima, was thought to be the biggest and last of the rebel fleet of 10 vessels: 3,000 tonnes capacity and 70m long.
