Fatal accident brings call for revised lifeboat drill

France's marine accident investigation bureau, BEA Mer, has demanded that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) bans ship crew members from boarding lifeboats during safety drills after two men were killed in China. It made the recommendation for hoisting and lowering operations in its report into the fatal accident, which took place aboard the CMA CGM Christophe Colomb during a lifeboat drill in the port of Yantian on 15 April.
