Rate restoration losing steam

Global container carriers are conceding significant ground on freight rates again after a three-month price rally, according to spot rate indices SCFI and the World Container Index. Latest readings show that a considerable amount of the 1 May general rate increase has already evaporated, casting doubt on the lines' ability to implement the next and perhaps final stage of their restoration programmes at the start of June.
