After having initiated a small revolution in offshore vessel bow design, Norway's Ulstein group is poised to attempt to do the same for stern design. Eight years after the X-Bow made its first appearance on the offshore supply vessel Bourbon Orca, Ulstein has announced that it is ready to bring the X-Stern to the offshore shipbuilding market. For the moment, the X-Stern exists only as a design, but the company said that it is working with three or four vessel-operating companies on projects that should result in its appearance on a ship fairly soon.
