China's shipping seeks 'new normal'

With China's economic growth slowing since 2014, its shipping industry is seeking ways to adjust itself to this 'new normal'. China's ministry of transport (MoT) has decided that restructuring and reform in shipping should be promoted, with growth stabilised and safety ensured, Li Yang, president of China Waterborne Transport Research Institute (CWTRI), told IHS Maritime. The institute is a think tank affiliated with the ministry.
