Long on the drawing board, what is claimed to be the world's largest vessel - Allseas' planned construction/decommissioning/ pipelay vessel Pieter Schelte - is moving closer to reality. Negotiations with yards in the Far East are ongoing and a number of important contracts have been placed for key items of equipment such as engines, DP technology and the high-tensile steel for the jacket and topsides lift system.
