Fincantieri to buy STX OSV

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri said in December that it will buy the STX Group's 50.75% stake in Norwegian offshore vessel builder STX OSV, a move that would make it one of the top five shipbuilders in the world. With 21 yards on three continents, nearly 20,000 employees, and revenues of €4Bn ($5.29Bn), Fincantieri will double in size to be the leading Western producer, including in terms of diversification and presence in the high-value-added segments, and capable of competing with the Asian giants.
