Eide Industries was approached in January 1999 by casino owners Majestic Properties/Gaming World Inc. and Speer-LaKamp, the general contractor, to assist them with developing the concept of a project to create an optional outdoor atrium area within the context of the Hustler Casino. The owner and general contractor's requirements for the atrium cover were: 1. Must comply with new California Smoking Laws 2. Would like a retractable skylight 3. Must have a 95 percent waterproof seal solution. (Trees in the atrium could experience some rain) 4. Wanted the skylight to be engineered to withstand 144km/hr wind-loads opened or closed 5. The structure would allow exterior ventilation when closed 6. Easy to operate.
