NBN SATELLITE SERVICE HERALDS NEW FOCUS ON REGIONS

NBN’s business satellite service is intended to help meet the increasing needs of medium or large businesses, enterprise and government users in regional and remote areas, or businesses that have employees in hard to reach areas, according to the company. The service will provide access to fast broadband and business-grade support for businesses across Australia. It caters for locations that do not have an address (unlike the fixed wireless and Sky Muster satellite service), and initially addresses the need for highdata capacity and IoT connectivity. Three service assurance levels will be offered. An additional but as yet unspecified product is planned for 2020. As NBN Co will provide the business satellite service on a wholesale basis to phone and internet providers. The announcement came alongside the debut of a new NBN Co business unit charged with ensuring regional customers remain front and centre as the NBN network build nears completion. Its activities will include expanded community and stakeholder engagement efforts to ensure that customer expectations are understood.
