AirWatch, a provider of a web or on-premises based mobile device management service, has opened an office in Melbourne and has appointed Rob Roe managing director for the Australian and New Zealand markets. Meanwhile, Sybase has teamed up with Geomatic Technologies to offer its Afaria device management suite under a SaaS model. Sybase cites a recent survey by Kelton Research in which almost 50 percent of IT managers responding said that successfully managing mobile applications would top their priority list in 2011. "82 percent also share the belief that it would be beneficial to host more of their mobile applications in the cloud," Sybase said.
