Europeans to have major input in forthcoming IPCC report

The European renewables industry is set to have a major input in a special report on renewable energy and climate change mitigation. This follows the decision of the plenary of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to draw up the special report, scheduled for approval and acceptance in the second half of 2010. The 'scoping' paper, which sets the framework for the study, was finally submitted to the IPCC at its meeting in Budapest for decision on 10 April. That paper notes that the fourth assessment report (AR4), covering a full range of mitigation options, was "necessarily limited" in its treatment of renewable energy sources.
