Import duties and quotas for 2010-2012 adopted

The Council of the EU adopted, on 26 October, a regulation opening, for the 2010-2012 period, tariff quotas necessary to ensure Community supplies of fishery products. This regulation will be applicable from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2012 and will repeal, as of its entry into force, current Regulation EC 824/2007.rnCommunity supplies of certain fishery products currently depend on imports from third countries: in the last ten years, the EU's self-sufficiency rate for fishery products has decreased from 57% to 36%.
