摘要

Issuing its first report, the EU Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) claimed better communication and improved peer review. ENSREG, established by the European Commission in July 2007, aims at bettering understanding and common approaches to nuclear safety and waste management. Composed of the heads of national regulatory or nuclear safety authorities, the group's first report claims that its activities have "significantly" boosted communication, coordination and cooperation between national regulatory authoritiesrnas well as having enhanced dialogue with the Commission. Presenting the report, group chair Andrej Stritar talked of assuring a high level of nuclear safely and contributing to ''continuous" safety improvements in all EU member states. The Commission is set to transmit this first report to the European Parliament and Council for comments in September 2009. The report is based on the contributions of ENSREC's three working groups in nuclear safety, waste management and transparency.
