Five maize varieties on track for authorisation

The member states' experts failed, on 22 July, to rally a qualified majority tor or against the release on the market for import and processing (not cultivation) of three new types of GMO maize: Mon 88017, Mon 89034 and NK603. The 27 still have three months to reach a position at ministerial level, failing which the European Commission will take a decision.
