Commission adopts four new ecodesign regulations

The European Commission, on 22 July, adopted four regulations under the Ecode-sign Directive (2003/32/EC) governing the energy efficieney of industrial motors, circulators, televisions, refrigerators and freezers. The Commission boasts that the regulations will lead to energy savings of some 190 TWh per year by 2020. This is equivalent to the combined annual electricity consumption of Sweden and Austria.
