While the Commission has not yet taken an official position in this debate, MEPs are making a case for the mega-trucks. Several reports adopted in 2007 supported introducing these trucks, at least under certain conditions. One of these (a report by Spain's Ines Ayala Sender, PES, on the logistics of transporting goods, adopted in September 2007) suggests that the Commission should only authorise these 60-tonne trucks to be used on certain roads at the request of member states.
