In this work, the author demonstrates - following a process whereby the law does not neglect ethical concerns or social and environmental reality - not only the inadequacy of certain traditional legal categories vis-a-vis problems arising from the fight against global attacks on the environment, but also the limits of efforts made to date in environmental law in order to rectify this inadequacy. This thought process leads the author to consider the idea of an "ecological public order" as a possible means of reacting to this ecological urgency by relying on a law which reflects hierarchical social values.'
