By making concessions on agricultural products (fruit and vegetables, meat and milk) and traditional products, particularly for Germany (salt levels in bread) and France (cheese), and allowing them to vaunt their nutritional merits to consumers without constraint, the European Commission's health and consumer protection services hope to seal an agreement on nutritional profiles soon. The initial proposal has come under fire from both agricultural and industrial professional organisations.
