摘要

The EU Court of Justice told France, on 17 February, that it is obliged to release the exact location of sites where genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are grown. Under no circumstances can EU member states invoke "an exception relating to the protection of public order or other interests protected by law" to object to the disclosure of information about "the location of release," the Court said. This judgement (Case C-552/07) rules in favour of a French citizen, Pierre Azel- vandre, who wanted to know the location of GMO open field tests carried out in his commune in 2004. Having been refused this information by the mayor of Sausheim (Haute Alsace, France), Azelvandre turned to the French administrative court, which itself turned to the Council of State, which referred the question to the Luxembourg court.
