Eu Helps Chisinau Face Gas Crisis

On 12 January, a shipment of electric generators and large capacity heaters was sent to Moldova by Austria. This intervention takes place in the framework of the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism, which Chisinau evoked in the evening of 9 January, at a time that the country's gas reserves had completely run out. The equipment should be distributed, according to the European Commission, to hospitals, orphanages and services that need it most. A team of Swedish, Czech and French experts from the Commission's Monitoring and Information Centre (MIC), rushed to the country, will help the local authorities to manage the crisis.
