Executive faults Italy and Spain

The European Commission has for mally requested that Italy and Spain fully comply with Directive 2002/91/EC on the energy performance of buildings. By sending a reasoned opinion, on 24 November, the Commission reserves the right to take the two member states to the EU Court of Justice if no sufficient mea sures are adopted within two months. Directive 2002/91/EC aims at providing buyers or renters with relevant informa tion about their (prospective) buildings. It also requires, since 4 January 2009,member states to provide for a scheme for the regular inspection of boilers and air conditioning systems.
