摘要

The European Union confirms its commitment to respect the objectives of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and agrees to include biodiversity in its policies and programmes. It considers essential a new international action plan for 2020, in which its own 'vision for 2050' can be contained, recognises the need for adequate financing and arguesrnfor an international access and benefit sharing (ABS) agreement on genetic resources. In conclusions adopted on 14 October in Luxembourg, the EU's environment ministers set ambitious goals ahead of the Conference of Parties to the International Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held from 18 to 29 October in Nagoya, Japan.
