Smart and non-polluting mobility for tomorrow and beyond

A "radical transformation" of the organisation of transport in Europe is announced in the draft white paper on the Common Transport Policy, due to be published towards mid-December. Europolitics Environment was able to obtain a copy of the European Com-rnmission's paper. Serving as the backdrop to this proposal are the need to reduce emissions, the decline of fossil resources and growing demand for mobility. The Commission seeks "high quality mobility services while using fewer resources". Such services must form part of a single transport area within which all barriers between modes and between national systems are abolished.
