General Assembly sends bad signal to Nagoya

It was supposed to be a mere formality. The special session of the United Nations General Assembly on biodiversity, on 22 September, was expected to approve the creation of the IPBES (intergovernmental science-policy platform on biodiversity and ecosystem services), also referred to as the 'biodiversity IPCC, approved in principle last June by 90 countries in South Korea.
