Commission to streamline rules and cut red tape

In a communication released on 29 April, the European Commission promises to simplify procedures for gaining EU funding in the Seventh Research Framework Programme. (FP7). The Commission readily admits that over the past 25 years, the EU's Research Framework Programme has expanded, but that participation has become "complex". Ensuring that EU funds are spent correctly has also come to mean administrative burden and costs, especially for SMEs.
