Alcohol consumption remains steady in Europe

Alcohol consumption in Europe, considered the highest in the world, has not dropped in recent years: three out of four Europeans drink up to three times a week and one in ten has five or more drinks at a time. These findings, revealed by a Eurobarometer survey published on 21 April, show that levels have remained similar to those emerging from a 2006 poll, in spite of the European strategy to reduce alcohol-related risks launched at that time.
