In a resolution adopted on 27 January, the European Parliament's Environment Committee (ENVI) urges the European Commission to support the listing of bluefin tuna in Annex I (total ban) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), in accordance with the proposal tabled by Monaco. Elena Espinosa, minister for agriculture, fisheries and the environment and president of these three Councils, was asked about the vote as she presented the priorities of the Span-rnish EU Presidency to the EP's Fisheries Committee (PECH), on 28 January (see separate article), but refused to take a stand, saying she was waiting for a Commission proposal.
