MEPs aim to ensure secure European supply

The security of the European industry's supply of raw materials must be at the heart of a future strategy, according to the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). In a report drafted by Reinhard Biitikofer (Greens-EFA, Germany) and adopted on 1 July, MEPs state that such a strategy should focus on efficient use and recycling and be supported by cooperation with international suppliers. The report will be put to the vote in plenary in September.
