The European Parliament will not have an easy time adopting a common position on the touchy issue of the Eurovignette. Discussions, on 15 March in the Committee on Transport (TRAN), revealed that there is a gulf between those backing an ambitious text and those calling for pragmatism. Rapporteur Said El Khadraoui (S&D, Belgium) hopes to end up with a text that can rally maximum support so that the EP will be in a position of strength opposite the Council.
