Parliament insists on EU strategy for region

The European Union should set up its own strategy for the Black Sea region to contribute to peace and stability and to ensure energy security in the area, according to the European Parliament. In a resolution adopted in plenary, on 20 January in Strasbourg, MEPs pressed for a new EU budget heading and more human resources. The Black Sea Synergy (BSS) has had the merit of recognising the strategic nature of this region for the EU and the need to boost EU involvement in the area, notes the EP, which regrets nonetheless that the results of the BSS have been rather limited so far.
