Energy Efficiency Directive: Industry fears savings targets would cause production drop

The European Parliament's Committee on Energy (ITRE) endorsed, on 28 Feb ruary, its report on the Energy Efficiency Directive1. The draft sets out binding energy saving targets for member states up to 2020, as well as obligatory measures in the renova tion of public buildings, annual sales cuts for energy distributors, the development of co generation and district heating/cooling and the deployment of smart meters.
