Greenpeace misses stress tests on off-site emergency preparedness

The comprehensive risk and safety assessments of nuclear power plants, commonly known as 'nuclear stress tests,' contain no assessment of off-site emergency response, and do not analyse in depth the risks of terrorist attacks, cyber attacks and acts of war, Greenpeace has pointed out. At a public meeting organised by the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG), on 17 January, it was mostly the environmental activist group that represented the nongovernmental sector, among the ranks of national nuclear regulators.
