The paper by T. Boukhobza, F. Hamelin and D. Sauter presents an analysis of uniform observability for structured bilinear systems. Here uniform observability means "observability for any input". This notion is motivated by the well-known fact that, for nonlinear systems with inputs, the observability can be destroyed by a specific input since the observability is generally defined as the distinguishability of two different initial states by some inputs. A uniformly observable nonlinear system has the advantage, like a linear system, that the state observation problem can completely be separated from the control synthesis problem.
