It is important to take several factors into account when using measurement technology to optimise energy consumption in addition to calculating the cost of the heat generated. Rather than just the proportional percentage saving, a much more accurate percentage reading is required in order to determine the heat quantity consumed in a particular location, and to work out where action is required. For example, if you want to achieve a 10% saving on energy consumption, it makes little sense to use measurements with an accuracy of ±5%.
