Growing shares of wind and photovoltaic in the power markets are introducing economic problems to combined heat and power (CHP). The challenge is to meet heat delivery obligations also in phases in which costs of cogeneration cannot be covered. One profitable solution could be to couple CHP with large solar collectors and electrode boilers, as the present calculations reveal.
